I Thought You Were Dying!

A few weeks ago, I had some sort of stomach bug sneak up on me shortly after I got back to the office after lunch.  I had only been back at my desk for about an hour and I got an instant headache and had goosebumps on my arms and legs.  The weird part was... the goosebumps hurt!

I took some ibuprofen and tried to wait it out and after another hour I still felt the same and started to get a light headed.  I left work and drove home and slept for a couple of hours in hopes of feeling better before I had to pick Em up from my parents.

It didn't help.  When I woke up, I could add chills, wooziness and nausea to the ickiness that I was feeling.  I didn't trust myself driving to pick Em up so I called and thankfully, they brought her home to me.

Em was excited to play nursemaid and take care of me that evening.  I rested on the couch while she watched one of her favorite movies.  Several times throughout the movie, she would tell me something funny and I was awake enough to respond and then fell back asleep.

Apparently I wasn't quite awake enough as the movie began to wrap up.  I opened my eyes to see Emily standing about 6 inches away from my face with a freaked out look on her face.  "What's wrong, Em?" I asked.  She stammered in response, "I thought you were dying."

I had to smile and chuckle and that seemed to reassure her that I might survive.

(Amazingly, after I woke up, I felt 100% better and was back to my normal self.  Whatever it was lasted about 6 hours and disappeared as quickly as it came on.)

Em's Hair Salon

So I was sitting in Em's hair salon and she was brushing my hair by using her Cinderella/Barbie's feet in my hair. Is this a new hair treatment that I'm not aware of yet or is this something I should be concerned about?

Toothless Tess #5!

We've been waiting for it for about 4 weeks now and it finally happened.  Tooth #5 has left the building.  We put together a little video for you last night as we were preparing for the tooth fairy's visit.

Here's a closer look at the card that Emily made for the tooth fairy....  There's one picture that Emily didn't mention in the video above.  See if you can find it!  But don't make any guesses at what it might be.  This is a PG-rated blog!  :0)

Have a great week!

Hair: According to Em

This one of Emily's grandpas.
Note the lack of turf on the upper deck...

Out of the blue the other day, Emily shared the following fact with me:

"Sometimes a really big wind can come along and blow people's hair right off of their heads."

...which initiated the following conversation.

REALLY?  Is that what happened to Papa?

"Yep!"

Did that happen just recently or how long ago did it happen?

"A long time ago... like a hundred years or something."

I didn't know Papa was that old.

"Yep, his hair just blowed away.  You have to wear a hat to keep your hair from blowing off."

--Okay.  Point noted.  Lesson learned.

That's My Girl

So I walked into the living room the other day and found this...

Yeah, she's special like that... it was the basket she's been using for her stuffed animals.

Then... not too long after that, I find this.  Man, it's rough being a 5 year old!

Summer Party Pix

We went to a graduation party recently for a couple of great young people from our church.  Someone happened to catch some pictures of us while we were there!   So much for trying to hide behind the camera all the time!
