Halfway there!

I finished packing our bags at 2:00am on Sunday morning and then caught a hours of sleep before getting up for church around 6. The good part was that I felt very rested in just those few hours.

We had a great send off from church and then went home to quickly wrap up a few more things before my mom and dad came to give us a lift to the airport. We met up with Tom's parents and Ryan for a quick farewell on the way.

So far, everything has gone amazingly smooth. At the Columbus airport, everyone was of course in great spirits as the OSU game was just a day away. Security was a breeze and even the security folks were laughing and joking with everyone. We got off to a great start.

Columbus to Minneapolis was a breeze... only snag was a girl behind us that talked non-stop for over 2 hours. Sleep was a good solution to that problem!

We only had about 10-15 minutes wait once we got into Minneapolis before we were off to Amsterdam. No time to get nervous there! That process went very smoothly as well and there were no extra security checkpoints to go through at all. That flight was quite comfy as well. We had middle seats, but the food was wonderful and everyone had their own mini-tv's and could watch movies, listen to music, play games, etc... everyone that is except for me. ;-) Again, sleep and an iPod were good solutions to that problem!

We're now sitting in Amsterdam. In Ohio it's about 7:30am, but here it's 1:30pm. We don't leave here until after 6pm tonight for Almaty.

The picture included in this post is the not so subtle marketing that is used on ALL cigarette boxes in the airport. Every brand, every carton. This American finds it intriguing.

Glad to hear that you've had a successful trip so far! There sure is a lot to experience beyond the US borders - from the cigarette warnings to figuring out how the toilets flush!
